Effectively storing data in a home lab can be tricky given the number of solutions, luckily the Synology platform is widely available, packed with enterprise features and cost efficient for a home-lab environment. I utilize my NAS to provide many services as I enjoy the platform quite a bit, below I outline a few:
- Hosts multiple docker container which contain Jellyfin (media center with hundreds of movies & TV shows) for my home-lab.
- Responsible for providing redundant storage via ISCSI initiator to VMWare server
- Utilized as my personal / private cloud storage for backups across all devices using Active Backup for Business
